My house is my castle, and I am the Queen.
I don’t feel I am a bossy person, however I was raised to feel that when someone owns their own beach house and pays all the bills, that no 1 else has a right to tell them what to do. At work, I am a humble employee. At church, I am a quiet parishioner. But when I am at home, I am the Queen and my word is law. My grandchildren were over visiting last weekend, and 1 of them had the audacity to change the settings on my temperature control. I sat them all down immediately and had a stern however friendly talk to them about never touching my temperature control without my permission. Even if they are dying of heatstroke, they still need to ask me to change the temperature control for them. They are never to kneel hands on it! My words did not have the right effect, so I had 2 options – either I beat some sense into the kids or I found a way to protect the temperature control. The new political temperature means that no 1 is allowed to smack their kids around anymore, and since I don’t want to go to jail I purchased a plexiglass lock-box for my temperature control. The lockbox worked out perfectly, because the kids could still see the temperature control readout, however they couldn’t get their grubby little hands on it! Now they have no options, and can never access the temperature control without the key I wear on a chain around my neck. They still deserve a beating, in my opinion.
