I called the HVAC company because I wanted the air conditioning unit serviced for the summer. When the HVAC technician arrived, I failed to make eye contact. My best friend was at the house, and she must have noticed. Even when the HVAC technician left, I wouldn’t look him in the eyes. I allowed him to show me the bill and tell me what repairs needed to be made. When he left, my friend asked me if I knew the HVAC technician. I wanted to know why she asked, but I was afraid to. She looked at me and told me he had been staring at me the entire time he was sitting at the table. I couldn’t tell her I recognized his voice or his smell. I told her I did not know who he was, but he seemed creepy to me. She thought the HVAC technician was cute, and said if I was going to ignore him, she was going to see if he was single. Two hours after she left, I heard a knock on the door. I thought she had forgotten something again, and just yelled for her to come in. when I smelled him, I knew it was the HVAC technician. He sat down across the table from me and said nothing. He said he knew I recognized him as someone other than the HVAC technician. I wanted to scream that I missed him, but I didn’t have the chance. He told me he missed me and wanted to know why we ever split. That was three years ago, and I am now married to the HVAC technician.
