I had been an HVAC technician for almost fifteen years, and I was tired of the job.

I didn’t want to be an HVAC technician.

I had higher aspirations, and it was time to make a change. I was talking to my wife, and she told me to go for it. We sat down and figured out what went into my new life plans. She helped me get a five-year plan and set everything in motion. My brother showed up one afternoon and asked what I was doing with all the paperwork on my desk. I told him I no longer wanted to be an HVAC technician. I wanted to own the HVAC company. I could still work as a technician, but I wanted to do more. I had the college degree in business, and I wanted to use it. My wife and I knew exactly what we needed to do to make the business work, but we needed to find a property where we could have the HVAC office, an inventory room, and a garage to house and work on the service vans. My brother helped me to find a smaller area, but I wanted something bigger. If I were to find some place that could house a fleet of six service vans, and have two full bathrooms and two offices, I knew I could make it work. Once we found the property, I went to the bank to get my loan started. I had excellent credit, and all the pre-paperwork prepared. One year from the day I decided to no longer be an HVAC technician; I was the proud owner of my first HVAC company.
