My dad wasn’t happy with the people I was hanging out with. I told him I was with the HVAC technicians in his company, but he still disapproved. My brother was one of those HVAC technicians and he wouldn’t let me get too near anyone, let alone the HVAC technicians he worked with. We were talking one afternoon, and I wanted to know why he watched over me. He told me he saw how the guys looked at me, and I was his little sister. Someone had to make sure I didn’t get hurt, and he elected himself. I thought dad may have something to do with his self election, but I didn’t voice that opinion. I didn’t think any of the HVAC technicians thought anything more about me other than being the pesky daughter of the HVAC company owner. I was only six when I started hanging out at the HVAC company. My mom had just died, and dad wanted me close. I was now twenty-one and still hanging out at the HVAC company. I hung out with all the HVAC technicians, even when they partied. My dad felt comfortable, or so he said, but my brother did not. Last week, he was home with his wife, who was very pregnant and did not want to come hang out. The youngest of the HVAC technicians didn’t know I was the HVAC company owner’s daughter. He was flirting like crazy until one of the older guys walked over.
