I used to think that life was nothing but a wash, rinse, repeat cycle.
I would wake up in the morning, go to work, come home and eat, go to bed, then wake up again.
I was bored with life, but it soon changed. Having a broken furnace was the best thing that ever happened to me. I called the HVAC company, and I asked for an HVAC technician. I didn’t know what was wrong with the furnace, but I knew something was wrong. The secretary tried to give me prompts that would help her do a preliminary diagnosis and get me to the right HVAC technician, but I couldn’t. When she told me she had an HVAC technician available in a slot that was two hours away, I took it. It was a Saturday, and I didn’t realize how lucky I was to get this appointment. When the HVAC technician arrived, I brought him into the house and showed him to the furnace. He did a lot of fiddling with the air filter, and then he looked to see how much dirt was on the inside of the air filter chamber. He told me I needed the ductwork cleaned, but he also had a few more adjustments he wanted to make. We talked while he was working, and I asked if he enjoyed being an HvAC technician. When he said it was rewarding, I perked up. I needed a job that did more for me than give me a paycheck. The following weekend, I signed up for HVAC courses, and I never looked back. Life isn’t so bad when you have good HVAC, and I was giving my customers good HVAC.
