Mother wasn’t sure about my job as a Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman

So, a few weeks later, I broke the news to my mom that I was going to toil as a Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman.

My mom was regularly trying to get me to become a nurse. No shade to nurses, but that isn’t what I wanted to do with my life, and for some context, you should know that my mom is a senior RN. She has been toiling for 30 years in the health industry, and done so well for herself. So, I think she regularly hoped I’d follow in her footsteps and get a degree in nursing. I came to learn she even had some school picked out where I could go and get the best training. But, I had other ideas. My best friend’s dad is an Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman, and we got to talk one time about the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C industry. I was at their dwelling when he was installing a smart temperature control and got curious. He asked me to assist him, and that is when the entire conversation about toiling as a Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman came about, but later that night, I went home, did some research, and realized this was a wonderful job path. So, a few weeks later, I broke the news to my mom that I was going to toil as a Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman. She wasn’t sure about this choice, and she made sure to mention that I was a woman and this was a male-dominated industry. But, I mentioned times are different, and companies were hiring female Heating, Ventilation, and A/C servicemans… Well, I can proudly report that I was right. I got toil immediately after graduating, and it’s been a decade of enjoying an amazing job in the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C industry. Follow your dreams, not someone else’s.
