Over the years, my family has outgrown our small home.
With four children, we were short on bedrooms.
My oldest daughter started to bitterly complain about sharing a bedroom with her little sister. My husband and I considered putting an addition on the house, but the cost simply wasn’t in the budget. We eventually decided that the most affordable solution was to convert the attic of the house into a bedroom. The attic is quite spacious, despite the slope of the roof. We simply needed to add insulation, better lighting, more power outlets and some type of temperature control. The attic tends to be extremely hot and sticky feeling in the summer and overly chilly during the winter. We were concerned over how we’d manage sufficient heating and cooling. After consulting with a local HVAC contractor, we settled on a ductless heat pump. The installation process was not overly expensive and completed within a few hours. The heat pump is wonderfully compact and provides both heating and cooling capacity. An outdoor compressor links to a lightweight and streamlined air handler. The air handler is operated through a cordless remote and offers wifi connectivity. Because the ductless split system is powerful enough to quickly raise or lower temperature, my daughter only runs it when she’s going to be using her new bedroom. The system is also especially energy efficient, so it costs very little to operate. The ductless heat pump has created a very comfortable living space for my daughter. It even features a multi stage filtration system to help improve indoor air quality.
