If you don’t know anything about HVAC you should really take a second to learn.
I didn’t know anything about HVAC either when I first moved into my house, so I had to do a ton of research. Luckily there’s a lot of information about HVAC on the internet, so you can pretty much learn everything that you need to know. The most important lesson that I learned about HVAC during my research is that it’s important to have an HVAC unit that is the correct size for your house. For example, if your AC unit is too big for the room it’s going to keep shutting on and off because it’s too powerful. This shutting on and off will cause the AC unit to die a lot quicker than it really needs to. On the flip side if you get an AC unit that’s too small they will have to work extra hard and you will be paying a lot of money. You will probably have to replace your HVAC system a lot sooner if you get the wrong size. Another thing you should take into consideration is that you can get a ductless mini-split system and put a unit in each room, this way you can ensure that every room will have the right size AC unit. If you’re making the switch from central air to zoned heating and cooling, you could really benefit from a mini split system. I won’t go too much into the HVAC equipment I have mentioned, I really just want to explain that you should make sure that the HVAC equipment is right for each particular room that you have.
