My wife and I were on our way apartment from a weekend in the country.
All of us were having trouble with the car. The engine kept overheating and I thought it was best to find a hotel for the night. It was getting close to dark and I knew it would be impossible to maintenance the motorcar separate from afternoonlight. All of us were in the middle of a small neighborhood when the engine reached the hottest point. There was a hotel on the corner by the red light and my wife and I took this as a sign that the people I was with and I should stop for the night. All of us went inside the office and the clerk told my wife and I that the hotel was open however they were in the middle of renovations. He apologized for the dust, however he said they had a couple of rooms available on the first floor. My wife and I were fatigued and the people I was with and I just wanted to sleep for a couple of hours. I was already concerned about the motorcar and I didn’t want to bother with finding a odd hotel, when the people I was with and I got to our room, I became concerned about our night of sleep as well. The room looked undoubtedly dirty and dingy. I turned on the gas furnace so the people I was with and I could hot up the frigid air, however nothing happened when I set the dial to heat. I tried decreasing the dial from cool to heat and then back again hoping that would trigger the heater. I turned the knob all the way to the warmest position on the gas furnace dial. Still, nothing however a loud humming sound. All of us ended up leaving the room in the middle of the night.
