I remember the time when I actually saved my family from a certain death.
I was just a youngster visiting with my family at my grandparents’ home.
I felt there was something wrong when I started feeling tired and light headed in the house. It was the midst of the winter time and I only felt better when I went outside to get fresh air. Well, eventually everybody went to bed, but I didn’t feel right at all. Even though it was the middle of the winter, I decided to open a bunch of windows to get fresh air in the house. I then called up the HVAC company and told them I thought there was something wrong with the heating system because everybody was feeling sick. I could tell my parents and siblings didn’t feel good and my grandparents were already passed out. The HVAC emergency team came out and they confirmed there was a carbon monoxide leak with the heating system. They said if I didn’t call them and open the windows like I did, everybody in the house could have died. I felt good about saving everybody, but I also felt bad for the expensive emergency HVAC services my grandparents had to pay for. They actually had no idea there was an issue with the HVAC system and if we weren’t there to visit, they might have died from the carbon monoxide leak. I learned from an early age how important it is to always have your HVAC system looked at to make sure there are no issues like this.
