When the HVAC technician came to the door, I could see in his face that he had news he wasn’t exactly overjoyed about sharing. But honestly, I had been expecting this HVAC conversation for a couple of years. Sure enough, the HVAC professional said that our HVAC equipment was at the end of its productivity and a new HVAC unit plan was needed. I sort of felt like we were in the bonus round anyway so it wasn’t too tough to hear that we needed to get real about a heating and cooling upgrade. The money had been saved up for a while thanks to that bonus time. So we went to the HVAC company to discuss our options. I was pretty taken aback by all the advances in the HVAC technology. Really, I should be give all the tech advance of the last 25 years. Still, I’m really glad that we have trusted HVAC professionals to help us find what we want. We were all set with our choices and all that was left was the inspection prior to installation of the new HVAC equipment. That inspection ended up with a big surprise. The ductwork system in our home was so old that it just would do. So we were dead in the water. Now we are trying to decide whether we replace all the ductwork or do we go with a ductless multi split heating and cooling system. We’re going to run the numbers again but we are leaning toward the ductless heat pumps as they are more efficient, easy to install and we can customize the heating and cooling as well.
