I think the key is to be as prepared as you can. My wife and I spent a lot of late nights in the HVAC comfort of our old house working through the design of our new home. Still all that preparation was not enough to keep us from running into problems. The general contractor we went with came recommended and had good references. This good stuff was on display throughout the structural process. However, when it came to bringing in subcontractors, we weren’t exactly impressed with his choices. It seemed pretty obvious he wasn’t going with the best in order to maximize his profit. We finally had to step in when they HVAC contractor showed up and had no idea what we wanted out of our heating and cooling design. From there, we started looking for a professional, organized and expert HVAC contractor. Heating and cooling is too essential a thing to let someone unprofessional tackle. It rubbed the general contractor the wrong way initially but it was our home and we were the ones who were going to be living with the heating and cooling. And we for sure wanted quality heating and air from a very good HVAC contractor and that’s what we got. Sitting here in the air conditioning now, I’m so thankful we stepped in and found the sort of HVAC professional who delivered what we expected.
