It was interesting when my son first started talking about playing an instrument, he started with playing the saxophone, he got pretty superb at it, I might add.
The thing is, he was making all kinds of noise and occasionally late into the night hours, I decided that we needed to get him a place where he could play his instrument without bothering everybody else in the house.
I ended up cleaning out the garage and making it a suitable section for him to get his practices in. I had the garage insulated but it was still way too hot inside of there. I decided to call the heating as well as A/C company to see what could be done. I was truthfully thinking that we could extend the ductwork into there and provide just enough heating and cooling. The heating as well as A/C professional cautioned against doing that though because the heating and A/C method was not sizable enough to cover the garage space. He proposed installing a ductless mini split inside of there. He said the ductless mini split would make it perfectly comfortable inside of there and it was highly energy efficient so we wouldn’t have to worry so much about energy spikes on the bill. The guy was right, that ductless mini split works wonderful and now our son even practices with his other friends in the garage, but even though the sound wasn’t really audible, I ended up soundproofing the garage so that the two of us wouldn’t be able to hear anything, unless we opted to go in there to appreciate the music, our son is a wonderful sax player, but now he’s starting up with playing the trombone.
