My wife and I divorced three years ago.
Since then, I have had my children every weekend.
My wife has the kids Monday through Friday. I pick them up on Friday after school and I take them back to school on Monday morning. My wife picks them up and has them through the week. The schedule has worked out very well for a long time. The children expect to be with me on the weekends and they are safe and sound at home with their mom Monday through Friday. My boss hates the fact that I can’t work on the weekends. He always tries to give me a hard time when I refuse to work extra. Last weekend I had the kids and my boss called on Saturday. He needed someone to help with a boiler repair. Boiler repairs are my specialty, but I had the kids with me. I told my boss that I would not be able to leave the kids alone. He suggested taking my children to his house so his wife could watch them while I work. I told my boss that I wasn’t going to leave the children with a stranger. The guy wasn’t happy with my response to his solution to the problem. I knew my boss needed some help with the boiler repair though, so I decided to make an exception this one time. I took the kids back to my ex-wife’s house and they spent the day with her on Saturday. My wife was strangely fine with the request, even though she often complains that I work too much. I was back from the boiler repair in less than 3 hours and then I took the kids back to my house.
