The HVAC service company sent a technician to look at the air conditioner and diagnose the problem.

My wife and I expected bad news, but we were not prepared to hear that our system needed to be replaced. That was the last thing we expected to hear. The HVAC service company needed to purchase parts and equipment for the replacement and they requested half of the money up front for the installation job. My wife and I were not particularly happy about the circumstances, but this heating and AC repair company was the cheapest place in town and they had decent reviews online. I wrote a check to the heating and air conditioner repair guy for $1,500. He claimed that would cover the cost of the equipment. The guy even gave me a receipt with the remaining balance on the bottom. I was supposed to pay the final balance when the job was completed. On the day of the scheduled HVAC installation, the company technician was an hour late for the installation appointment. I contacted the person five minutes after the technician was supposed to arrive. The company owner tried to tell me that he didn’t have any record of the job on the schedule. I told the owner that I had a cashed check from one of his repair guys and he told me that no one worked for him with that name. I had to get the police involved after that.
