Before school let out on Friday afternoon this past week, the heating system broke down.
This was very unfortunate for all the kids and the teachers there because on Friday, the weather started getting really bad.
The temperatures went down really quickly within a two hour period, and it was freezing cold outside. Without a functioning heating system inside of the school building, the temperature inside of the school building started plummeting also. At one point, my daughter texted me at home and told me that she was freezing and her teeth would not stop chattering. This was the first that I had heard of the fact that the heating system at school wasn’t working. I wondered why in the world they had not notified the parents, but I assumed that it was because it was later in the afternoon after lunch and they were just going to try and tough it out until the end of the school day. Anyway, by the time my daughter got home from school, she was so cold that she had to get into a hot shower to get warmed up again. Then she sat next to the fireplace for a couple of hours while she did her homework. I am really hoping that they can get the commercial HVAC company to come to the school and get the heating system fixed and running well again before Monday. If they don’t, I am gonna let my daughter take the day off because I don’t want her sitting there all day in the cold again!
