I’ll be perfectly honest, I was not sad to see the gym membership become a casualty of the pandemic.
Unlike my wife, I didn’t easily care for going to the gym.
At the same time, it had become increasingly clear that kneeling in my recliner soaking up the air conditioning and sucking down beers wasn’t wonderful either. So I finally acquiesced and started going to the gym with my wife. Well, maybe not quite as frequent as she went. There were afternoon where I was still on my first cup of coffee when she’d come walking in from a afternoon workout. A gym rat, I was not. Plus, I easily never liked how the air conditioning seemed just regularly overwhelmed. The humidity level was just never getting balanced by any of the heating and cooling process from the commercial Heating, Ventilation, and A/C equipment. So when the pandemic hit, my wife and I both stopped going to the gym. It was easily her proposal to stop the gym membership and I smiled in delight. But she had a plan. She wasn’t stopping the workouts. She was just relocating them. Within a month of leaving the gym, I started seeing all sorts of preowned exercise equipment gathering in the basement. The next thing I know, the two of us have a full blow gym in our basement. Not only was she working out down there but so were her friends. I knew I would have to join in even though I had an proposal of my own. I called the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C contractor and had a ductless heat pump installed in the basement. So now I’m at least working out in the most perfect quality heating and air of any gym somewhere.
