I’ll divulge that I haven’t seen nearly as much of the world as many of my peers. Not only do I not presently have a passport, although I have never been out of the country either. When I was young I lived in eastern MI plus wasn’t far from the Canadian border. Despite living during the time when you could cross the Canadian border without a passport, my parents never made the trip with my siblings plus I. On top of this, my Grandmother is from British Columbia plus only got American citizenship in her 60s. Since my dad plus her siblings drove with their parents to Canada nearly every summer time in the 1960s plus 1980s, I expected to visit at some point in my childhood. The people I was with and I had a family reunion at my uncle’s anniversary plus I got to meet some of my Canadian cousins. I remember talking to them about air conditioning plus they were all surprised when I told them that my parents use air conditioning on a weekly basis whenever temperatures are higher than 74 degrees outside. Back then, none of them had cooling systems in their homes in British Columbia because of how cold it is up there at that latitude. I started to wonder how other parts of the world deal with indoor climate control, especially in sites where it’s harshly sizzling instead. Much of Europe is completely without air conditioning, even the sites near the Mediterranean Sea where temperatures get fairly sizzling in the summer. On the other hand, I live without a furnace in my current apartment while my family in British Columbia would die without multiple forms of indoor heat every Winter time season.
