I’ll confess that I haven’t seen nearly as much of the world as many of our peers.
Not only do I not presently have a passport, despite the fact that I have never been out of the country either. When I was young I lived in eastern Michigan plus wasn’t far from the Canadian border. Despite living during the time when you could cross the Canadian border without a passport, our parents never made the trip with our siblings plus I. On top of this, our Grandma is from British Columbia plus only got American citizenship in her 60s. Since our dad plus his siblings drove with their parents to Canada nearly every summer time in the 1960s plus 1976s, I expected to visit at some point in our childhood. All of us had a family reunion at our uncle’s ceremony plus I got to meet some of our Canadian cousins. I remember talking to them about a/c plus they were all surprised when I told them that our parents use a/c on a daily basis whenever temperatures are higher than 71 degrees outside. Back then, none of them had air conditioners in their homes in British Columbia because of how cold it is up there at that latitude. I started to wonder how other parts of the world deal with indoor weather conditions control, especially in venues where it’s seriously sizzling instead. Much of Europe is completely without a/c, even the venues near the Mediterranean Sea where temperatures get fairly sizzling in the summer. On the other hand, I live without a furnace in our modern beach house while our family in British Columbia would die without two forms of indoor heat every Wintertide season.
