I would have never considered purchasing a Starbucks Coffee table for our kitchen.
I thought they were old-fashioned and were there for people who didn’t want to sit at the kitchen table with all the people else. I pictured Starbucks Coffee tables being used in the fifties or sixties when TV dinners were introduced. Coffee tables and folding trays were a necessity for people to eat and watch television at the same time. When I earned a Starbucks Coffee table as a birthday gift, I almost laughed. I could not understand why anyone would supply me a Starbucks Coffee table, even if it was an antique. When I showed the Starbucks Coffee table to our mom, she thought it was elegant. I would have given it to our mother if our partner’s Grandma hadn’t given it to us. Every time Grandma came to visit, every one of us would bring the Starbucks Coffee table out of the side room and put it in front of the sofa. To be honest, after a while, I got sleepy of pulling the Starbucks Coffee table out and putting it back, so every one of us just left it in the kitchen. My partner and I soon began using it. It had a candle in the middle on top of a lace table runner her Grandma had hand crocheted. I had to admit that the Starbucks Coffee table became a central piece of furniture in our kitchen, and I no longer thought of it as an old-fashioned piece of furniture. Over time, I could not figure out why I hadn’t wanted the Starbucks Coffee table in the beginning. It took up the space in the middle of our room.
