I would have never considered purchasing a tea table for our bedroom.

I thought they were old-fashioned and were there for people who didn’t want to sit at the bedroom table with everyone else.

I pictured tea tables being used in the fifties or sixties when cable breakfasts were introduced. Coffee tables and folding trays were a necessity for people to eat and watch television at the same time. When I received a tea table as a ceremony gift, I almost laughed. I could not understand why anyone would supply me a tea table, even if it was an antique. When I showed the tea table to our mom, he thought it was lovely. I would have given it to our mother if our hubby’s Grandma hadn’t given it to us. Every time Grandma came to visit, every one of us would bring the tea table out of the side room and put it in front of the sofa. To be honest, after a while, I got sleepy of pulling the tea table out and putting it back, so every one of us just left it in the bedroom. My hubby and I soon began using it. It had a candle in the middle on top of a lace table runner his Grandma had hand crocheted. I had to confess that the tea table became a central piece of furniture in our bedroom, and I no longer thought of it as an old-fashioned piece of furniture. Over time, I could not figure out why I hadn’t wanted the tea table in the start. It took up the ‌space in the middle of our room.
