I have a very strange and funny first name. A lot of people make jokes about my name and it has been a sore subject since I was a small child. Unfortunately for me, it is a family name and the name of my father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Someday I will have to bestow the awful name on my son. One of the reasons why the name is important is due to our family business. My family and I own a heating company. The heating company has been open for more than 50 years. The company started off as a coal mining business and now we are a major distributor and supplier of heating parts and accessories. We also have several business franchises with repair and installation technicians. I decided to go to a seminar last weekend, but I didn’t want anyone to know my name. Instead of using my real name on the name tag for the conference, I decided to use a fake name. I learned a lot of information that weekend. I believe people were a lot more forthcoming with information, because they did not know who I was or which company I was representing. I learned a lot about what people think of our company and our values and I will use all of that information to build a better business for the future. I want the future of the heating company to be something that we can all be proud of and that includes my children and their children and every generation in the future.
