My boss hired a new guy to work at the heating and air conditioner repair shop.

I knew we were going to get a new employee, because the boss has been looking for weeks. Summer is right around the corner. My co-workers and I do not want to work every single weekend, so we urged the boss to hire a couple of new guys to work on the weekends. It was difficult to find someone that was willing to work every weekend. The boss hired two new guys to join the business. I’m not very impressed with either one of the candidates. I worked with one of the new guys on Saturday. The two of us went downtown to help with a commercial boiler repair. The new guy didn’t know anything at all about the commercial boiler. He looked absolutely lost. When I came back to the workshop, I pulled my boss aside to talk about the employee. My boss claimed that the guy had three years of commercial Heating and Cooling experience, but I didn’t think that was true. That guy didn’t seem very knowledgeable at all. With 3 years of experience in commercial heating applications, the guy should have been ready to go when the boiler repair was presented to us. Instead, he didn’t know where to begin. The new guy is going to need a lot of training before he can handle repair calls on his own without another employee to help. I really wish my boss would have called the jobs and references on the guy’s application.
