I have converted our loft into my personal study. For the longest time, we only used it for storage. One day in the summer, I had a few days off from work, and my wife is a teacher, so she was off of work as well. We decided to go up to the loft and sort through all of the stuff in storage. We decided to sell some of it in a garage sale and then consolidated the rest, placing it elsewhere in the house. After that, I got to work, thoroughly cleaning out the loft and preparing to convert it into a study. I chose simple and small, but elegant and comfortable furniture that would be relatively easy to carry up there. I had a small desk and a comfortable chair, as well as a bookcase and a loveseat. There was no kind of climate control up there, so I would have to improvise. It was summer when I finally finished converting the loft into my own, personal, comfortable little study room. On relatively cool and breezy days, I simply opened the circular window at one end of the loft to let the cool breeze in. On days when it was particularly hot, I decided to invest in a portable air conditioner system and a fan that oscillated to circulate air. When winter finally came, it sure was drafty up there! I decided to invest in two radiant space heaters strategically placed in the loft so that the entire space was nice and toasty! Radiant space heaters aren’t necessarily able to heat an entire room, but having a couple of them up there was the perfect option to keep my study nice and warm and comfortable in the winter months!
