I’m absolutely taking advantage of all these devices in my life, but when I refer to devices, I mean the phones, the tablets and the several computers that are all so much a part of my life! A decade ago, I was still against even carrying a flip phone.
And I sort of resented all the technology I had to learn just to do my job inside the commercial heating and A/C of our office! So I’ve begrudgingly adapted to the fact that technology is here to stay. But now, I’m just going to start using it more in order to help me get more stuff done. When it comes to being inside the central air conditioning system of our home, I tend to shut my brain off; I spend so much time inside the zone controlled heating and A/C of my office, that I seem to just naturally click off when I come home. And while I think it’s important to have a work/life balance, I think maybe I take it a bit too far! That’s because there are a whole lot of things to do around this home and I tend to forget them. It’s not honest to my partner to have to remind me all the time to do the stuff that is actually my responsibility. So that’s where this new strategy with all our devices comes into play. I have begun setting alerts for things like changing the heating and A/C filter. I have also tied up in alerts months in advance for heating and A/C repair as well. If I do not maximize and utilize the technology I have, I am not going to make stuff like the heating and A/C chores a priority. And since I have all this technology, I might as well make good use of it. Besides, the heating and A/C device inside my house is essential to my comfort.
