Mom has had her shop, aka girl cave for years and Dad finally agreed with the family that he deserved his own work shed; the planning of this became a family project between my mother, my sibling, and myself.
This wasn’t as simple as all of us first thought, then first all of us had to choose the perfect building, and all of us finally found one.
But once it was set up, all of us needed to have electricity run to it; then after that was finally done, all of us needed to decide the source of a/c and heat for the work shed. The windows were too small for a window air conditioner and the portable air conditioner Mom had was particularly high repair, but Dad not only needed a/c; all of us needed to figure out heat, so I suggested a ductless mini-split a/c and heating method such as the ones I had seen in the south. All of my family agreed that it would be insufficient to combat the cold of our northern winters; but, I was still pretty sure a ductless mini-split would work. My partner’s neighbor is a new heating and air conditioning specialist and he had mentioned over the weekend that he had installed one recently. So, I did my research. My Mom, Dad, and my sibling were partially right. A few years ago, the heating elements on ductless mini-splits were not strong enough to handle the northern cold, but now they are much more powerful. I showed my research results to the family and they decided to go with the ductless mini-split a/c and gas furnace. It turned out to be an unbelievably good choice.
