Needing heating and cooling for a shed

Nick December 14, 2020

Dad has had his shop, aka man cave for years and Ma finally agreed with the family that she deserved her own she-shed! The planning of this became a family project between my mother, my sister, and myself.

  • This wasn’t as easy as every one of us first thought, however first every one of us had to choose the perfect building.

And every one of us finally found a single one; but once it was set up, every one of us needed to have electricity run to it. Then after that was finally done, every one of us needed to decide the source of air conditioning and heat for the she-shed. The windows were too small for a window air conditioning and the portable air conditioning Dad had was also entirely high maintenance! Mom not only needed air conditioning; every one of us needed to figure out heat. However, I commanded a ductless mini-split air conditioning and heating plan akin to what I had seen in the south. All of my family agreed that it would be insufficient to combat the frostiness of our northern winters; but, I was still pretty sure a ductless mini-split would work. My husband’s buddy is a new heating and A/C worker and he had mentioned over the weekend that he had installed a single one recently. So, I did my research. My Dad, Ma, and my sister were partially right to their credit. A few years ago, the heating elements on ductless mini-splits were not strong enough to handle the northern cold, but now they are a lot more powerful. I showed my research results to the family and they decided to go with the ductless mini-split air conditioning and heating system. It turned out to be a good choice.
