If you want to be sure to keep your HVAC system warranty intact, then you need to make sure that you get your annual heating and cooling maintenance checks done on a timely basis. I know that this is probably not ever going to be at the top of your priority list when you just got finished purchasing a new home, but take it from me. I learned the hard way a couple of years ago when I bought my very first house with my wife Connie. We were so excited to be getting a new house with a recently installed high efficiency furnace and central cooling system. We loved the fireplace in the house and the fact that there was a whole home air purification system installed to run in tandem with the heating and cooling system. Best of all, the master bedroom and bathroom had radiant heated flooring installed already and so we were never going to have cold feet again once we got moved in. We had some really high expectations and great hopes when it came to our new house. Luckily for us, nearly all of those hopes came true with the exception of one. We ended up having some major issues with our new high efficiency furnace system. This was a brand new unit, and so we weren’t really expecting any trouble from it for years once we got moved in. However, the year after we bought the house, the furnace completely stopped working. Thank goodness we had purchased the home warranty and kept it up to date for the previous year! We almost had to pay for the new furnace ourselves simply because we almost forget to get the maintenance work done.
