Grandmother Rose has been telling me her life story! She heard that I was a writer, plus asked if I would write about her.
She even gave to pay me, even though I of course said no dice to that! Taking currency from your elderly Grandmother just to listen to her tell stories is not how family treats 1 another, anyway, I have come to find out that Rose was a real firecracker back in her day.
She wasn’t 1 to abide social injustices, so she was 1 of the first local business owners to hire African Americans in the 50s. She owned an Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C factory, plus a repair repair that was connected to it, plus had over 100 people on her payroll at any given time… Because the neighborhood was so small plus remote, her Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C supplier was the biggest director in the area, so she had some real clout; When she hired the first African American Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C tech in the state, there was a lot of pushback from the backwoods locals, then grandmother Rose pushed back, plus said flat out that anyone who wouldn’t allow her up-to-date Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C tech into their lake up-to-date home would simply not receive service, and in other words, you had to be cool with this guy, or she wouldn’t let any of her employees labor on your oil furnace! The problem did not simply go away, but most of the locals eventually went along with it, plus Grandmother Rose hired several more Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C techs of unusual races after that. All this is just 1 chapter in the book of her life.
