One of my brothers bought a great big House 2 years ago.
He is at retirement age but not retired.
He sold a house that I thought was already too big, and bought this one that is gigantic. I told him he is supposed to be downsizing, and I just don’t get it. He said he just thought the house was a good deal. I will admit that it is beautiful. It’s over 5000 square feet, two stories, and has an amazing kitchen and a beautiful swimming pool. The only thing that needs work is the HVAC system. The previous owners put in what was considered good Heating and Cooling at the time the house was built, but the heating and cooling has not been upgraded since the house was constructed. That means it is quite old. I have told him that I think he should get AC with Zone control. In addition, he should get a smart thermostat, and also splurge on a/c sensors in the different rooms. It’s kind of funny that I am explaining different Heating and Cooling options to my brother, but I have always been interested in the ability to have perfect Comfort all year long because of an air conditioner and a furnace. Since my brother has a lot more money than I do, I offered to only pay for one little piece of this HVAC system. The smart thermostat.Laughed and said I was being silly and whatever kind of HVAC system he chose to get he would just buy the whole thing. I really thought a smart thermostat was a great Christmas present though, so I may try to talk him into it again.
