I am not one of the fortunate people who has ductless air conditioning.
Mini split ductless AC units are quite fantastic in my opinion, but I have what just about everyone else has in this area.
Plain old Central Heating and Cooling. I shouldn’t complain, for sure, as we are all quite spoiled in the heating and cooling Department in this country, but someday I hope to get a mini split ductless AC system if the HVAC guys say it is suitable for my house. Anyway, since I do have a ducted HVAC system, every once in a while I have to repair the ductwork. Since I have owned my home I have had to repair the ductwork two times. Both times were for the same reason. I live in a house that has a crawl space underneath. My house is about 100 years old, which makes it really unique and Charming, but sitting off of the ground causes some of its own problems. That is not to say that it is unusual for a house’s Foundation to have a built-in crawl space. It is quite common, in fact. Just know that if you are going to buy a house and your house sits up off the ground, you may someday have to repair your AC duct. Both times that I have had to do the AC repair was because animals managed to get into my crawl space and damaged the ductwork. One time, the HVAC guys refused to even go under there. They made me call in a critter getter before they would even look closely at the ductwork.Even though it was pricey, it was definitely worth it. Living in the Southeast without air conditioning is simply not an option.
