I’ve had several gym memberships in my life.
Of course when I was younger, I went to the gym for other reasons.
I wanted to get big and buff so I was appealing to the ladies. And that motivation would wane after several months of trying to do my own version of body building. And I would revert back to sitting on my butt in the air conditioning of my apartment. Yet, that 50 bucks would be debited from my account each month anyway. Those gym membership contracts were tough back then. There was really no getting out of them. It’s ironic that these days, I look forward to not sitting on my butt in the air conditioning and instead getting a work out. That’s quite a change. And it’s not for the ladies either. The fact is that my lady and partner is also my gym buddy. There is further irony here as well. These days, I can join a gym for far less than what I could 25 years ago. And there’s no contract. What’s so funny about that is I don’t even go to any other gym than the one that is in our basement these days. My wife and I gave up on the gym due to Covid. And we started one in our basement with used exercise equipment we found locally online. The best part is that we have perfect quality heating and air in this gym thanks to the HVAC company. They installed a ductless heat pump in the basement where I home gym is. And I have to say that the ductless heat pump beats all of the gyms I’ve ever been in when it comes to heating and cooling.
