When my grandpa wanted to move into a retirement community last year, he enlisted me to help him out with selling his house.
- I had no idea how much of a pain it would end up being when I told him I would help, though! The problem that we ended up having was that the HVAC system in my grandpa’s house was super old.
The realtor that we used told us that if we were going to be able to sell the house, then we would need to completely update the HVAC system in the house. I didn’t know that I was going to have to do anything that involved, and I certainly didn’t know anything at all about heating and cooling systems or getting them updated. I ended up having to call the local HVAC company to have them come out and do an assessment for us to see what all we would need to have done. It turned out that the old furnace that was in my grandpa’s house was basically original to the house so it was like 50 years old or something. I couldn’t believe that he still had the original furnace in the house, but I guess they just don’t make them like they used to! Anyway, we ended up having the HVAC company install a brand new high efficiency HVAC system in the house so that we could list it on the market. I guess having a brand new HVAC system really goes a long way toward getting good offers on whatever real estate you are selling.
