I love our old electric furnace.

It has been in the house ever since we moved in here 10 years ago, and I have no idea how long it was here before that.

Our house is pretty old, and I’mpretty sure that the furnace system is original to the house. Anyway, the furnace is really loud, and it sends out this great big roar every single time that it fires up. My husband just can’t seem to get used to it. Every single time that the furnace fires up, he flinches and acts like there’s an airplane flying into the house or something like that. I don’t know what his problem is, but you would think after living here for 10 years, he would be used to it by now! He hates it and he is always complaining about the furnace, but I always defend it. I think that the furnace sounds cozy and it’s a good reminder that we are safe and warm inside of our house. He is always complaining that it’s way too loud, but I think that the roar that comes through the heating vents every night makes for great background noise for sleeping. As a matter of fact, when the furnace isn’t running, I don’t sleep all that well at all. I would like it if we could just leave the furnace running all the time during the winter, but my husband certainly wouldn’t like that. He probably wouldn’t like all of the high heating bills every month, either! Either way, though, I don’t really want to get a replacement furnace. No matter what my husband says, I think our furnace sounds just fine.
