During the Winter I don't use my heat and I survive just fine

Thanks to my move to a state without brutally cold winters, I am grateful.

The temperature drops below normal on occasion, but those days are rare.

On a typical winter day, the temperature hovers between 60 and 65 degrees, and on colder days, it might reach 40 to 55 degrees. This is amazing to me because when I lived in the North, I had average highs and lows in the mid-20’s during the Winter, meaning that I used my heating system every single day. Now that I live in the southern part of the country, I barely turn on the heat. I have no idea if other people in our state use their heat in the Winter, but I think I can live without it just fine. Winter is the time of year when I wear extra clothing in my home, and I also keep my feet warm by wearing cozy socks made from fleece material. Heat costs have skyrocketed in recent decades, and central heating is energy-consuming. As a result, I’m glad I’ll be able to skip using it, which will lead to a reduction in my energy bill. On the other hand, my central a/c is used every day in the Summer because our climate can be brutally hot. During the summer, the temperature averages about 92 degrees every day, and I have not been able to avoid using our air conditioning. So, I know the savings I make in the Winter go right back into cooling our beach home in the summer. It’s perhaps breaking even.
