My dad and I have always had a weird relationship.
It’s been hard for me to move past everything that we have been through as I get older.
When I was a kid, my dad cheated on my mom and left us for her. He lived with this other woman for six years and didn’t even call us once. He didn’t call on my graduation day or any of my birthdays. So to say that I am bitter is an understatement. I hope that one day I will be able to have a normal relationship with my dad, but I am just not sure that is ever going to happen. Well, last week my dad randomly called me and told me that he heard I was having issues with the HVAC system in my house. The only reason that he would have known about my HVAC system issues was because my mom must have told him. I don’t talk to my dad anymore but I know that my mom still has some kind of communication with him. My dad offered to pay for my HVAC system upgrade but I knew that meant there would be strings attached. I didn’t want to feel like I owed my dad anything because he offered to pay for my HVAC system. I told him that I didn’t need his help, but he was insisting. I told him that I didn’t want to accept his help but I think it would be really silly of me not to let him pay for my HVAC system!
